This is reported to lose the NFL millions of dollars and could cost Mexico City even more. How did they allow this to even happen? Once news came out about players not wanting to go, this quickly was brought to the spotlight and forced the NFL’s hand.
Power Rankings seems completely pointless now, but lets bulk the teams into groupings. It seems as though that’s the point of the season we’re in.
Better Luck Next Year
These teams have all but tanked their seasons. Can they pull a miracle and upset a contender? Yea maybe, but those are the only thing they have to look forward to.
Players don’t even want to be on the team, Gruden has a 10 year contract and probably a 10 year plan. So expect more guys to be dumped at the draft and off-season.
San Francisco 49ers
Does the outcome really matter, other than draft position? The 9ers really should have won this game, winning these games at least boost moral, but losing just keeps hurting. The team has to know things will be better when Jimmy gets back, but that’s a long ways away.
Arizona legit gave KC some trouble, but KC was likely looking forward to next Monday against the Rams. The defense looked good, but the offense could never get anything going. A better offensive line and this could have been upset central. Poor Rosen got destroyed.
The Bears destroyed the Lions and officially put them in the bottom feeder region of the league. The potential is there in coming years, but this ain’t it Chief.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
How can this explosive of an offense be held to 3 points?! Fitz 3 turnovers, but 400 yards passing, they just can’t get it right. May be time for a new culture in Tampa aka new coach, new quarterback.
New York Jets
The Bills are also on this list and they beat the Jets by 31…31! At one point this team showed a lot of promise, but now they are on pace to ruin Darnold. I don’t think Bowles is fully to blame, but best for him to get out of there. The Jets could be way worse off then we thought.
Great win for the Bills, and thank god they didn’t play Peterman. Matt Barkley looked great and LeSean McCoy looked revitalized. It shows that solid qb play and you remember why this team made the playoffs last year.
New York Giants
Too bad this is a weak qb draft, Eli may be staying around another year. This team barely beat a 3rd string quarterback and only has 2 wins. They still have a shot at the #1 pick, but they have to hope its at least top 5.
Maybe…Just Maybe…Probably Not
These teams have been a roller-coaster all season, can they go on some miracle run? Yes, but they all have some rough loses. This is the biggest chunk of the league. These teams can easily contend with the leagues best one week and then lose to a bottom feeder the next week. It’s possible for these teams to move up and down.
Tannehill gave this team some hope but now that he’s out this team is a lost cause. I don’t think Tannehill is bad, but he’s hurt too much, its really time to start over in Miami. Brock isn’t the answer either…if I even had to say it.
The Bengals just can’t hang with the big boys, is it every going to be time to move on from Marvin Lewis?
The Ravens needed a Bye week and needed it bad, 3 straight loses. They still are legit in the playoff hunt, but I have a feeling if they miss, its bye bye Flacco and Harbaugh.
The team was in the Better Luck Next Year, just a couple weeks ago, now they are right in the hunt for the division. The NFL season is a wild road, lets see if the Colts can navigate it.
I want to put these guys in the trash but they’re too talented. Honestly I blame the coordinators, which directs on the coach. These guys have no passion and no drive, time for someone to step up, it seems this team is void of a leader.
Honestly the Broncos are doomed, but they can still ruin playoff seeding by knocking off some upsets, because the talent is there. This team can easily click one week and ruin playoff hopes or positioning. They have 2 games left the the Chargers, that would be their target.
Big win against the Eagles but they have too many bad loses to turn the season around. They have to love playing spoiler to the Eagles, who hoped to get back in the race. They could still go on a run to the playoffs, but that would take some major upgrades in their overall play.
They still have the Saints, Rams and Texans, good luck the rest of the way Philly. The defending champs are now chumps, how things can turn so quickly. Finishing .500 would look like a success at this point.
I knew the Falcons were a fraud, and Baker exposed them. They have a tough schedule moving forward so pulling some major upsets is possible but not enough to squeak into the playoffs.
This team got so close to beating the Rams twice, but came up just short. That seems like a solid metaphor for the Seahawks entire year. The actually could make the playoffs still, just need to upset at least one of the 3 (KC, Minnesota, Carolina).
Green Bay Packers
This is not the same old Pack, to save their season they need to beat Seattle and Minnesota in back to back games. They need to start throwing some wins together or bench Rodgers and let him heal for next year, make the choice.
Even if they win out they still won’t make the playoffs but they can spoil the party for multiple teams in the hunt. 5 of their remaining games are against teams with legit playoff hopes.
Who are you Really?!
Who are these teams? One week they look like the NFL elite, the next they can’t score any points. These teams are a mystery but very much are in the playoff hunt.
They lead their division, and should make the playoffs. But we know all to well that the NFC East likes to beat each other up, no game against division foes will be a cake walk and the Redskins haven’t proved they are that much better than the rest of the teams. They have had close games with both the Cowboys and Giants.
The Panthers have looked real good this season, but this last week against Pitt was embarrassing. They still have 2 games against the Saints so they need to make sure they win all the other games, but stealing at least one from New Orleans would be huge for a playoff push.
This team has a wild path the rest of the way, its a tough schedule for a solid team. The Vikings have been clicking other than a lose to the Saints, but half their remaining games are against top tier contenders. This won’t be easy, but the Vikings are good enough to do it.
Before last week the Titans would have been in the lower tier, but they just pumped the Pats. This team proved they can be dangerous and when Mariota is on they can beat anyone. The Titans can easily end the season with 11 wins, but can also end with 7 or 8. We just don’t know what were going to get.
Crazier things have happened in the NFL, but these teams are locks for the playoffs.
New England Patriots
The Pats are the only team in this category to lose last week, but they’re still the Patriots and own a sizable division lead. The reaming schedule looks easy for the Pats other than the Vikings, so expect for the Pats to bounce back.
After the first 4 weeks of the season the Steelers looked dead and people were calling for heads to roll. Now they have won 5 straight and look more dangerous than ever. The Chiefs crushed them in week 2, but if they meet in the playoffs now, the Chiefs would even have to be worried.
Another team that looked dead, the Texans have taken advantage of a weak division and now look like the South favorite. They still have a game against each division team left and a match up with the Eagles, so this is far from over. Its just hard not to put the Texans at the top with how they have bounced back. This is the worst of the Elite, but that’s not saying anything.
Kansas City Chiefs
The Chiefs may have been looking past Arizona and it showed, but they got the win without question. That’s the sign of a great team. Next week vs the Rams, its two of the leagues juggernauts in what could be the game of the year. When the NFL schedule this Monday Night match up they couldn’t have expected it to be this huge. We will learn a lot about KC.
The Bears season is far from over, they still have the Vikings twice and Rams once. Then there’s the always tough Packers, but this team is the cream of the crop in the North. They are the most complete team, but as the season goes on will a more veteran Viking team swoop in and steal the division? No matter what the playoffs are on the horizon for the upstart Bears.
The only team on this list that isn’t leading their division, but the Chargers have stayed so close to the league leading Chiefs that they still have that as a possibility. They would love to keep winning instead of heading to somewhere like Pitt or Houston for a first round match up. They fully control their own destiny because they still have one more game against the Chiefs.
New Orleans Saints
The Saints left no doubt and buried the Bengals. On a down note the Dez Bryant experiment failed before it started and the team has signed Brandon Marshall. Its slightly surprising the team is so desperate for help, it makes you think they aren’t confident heading into the playoff push. The last 3 weeks of the season feature the Panthers twice and the Steelers, that’s a rough way to head into the playoffs so securing a first round bye is all but necessary.
The Rams saw an amazing offense against Nola and lost, now they get arguably an even better offense. How will things turn out this time? The defense has to step up because these offense are going to be pedal to the medal. The Rams d getting to Mahomes could be the key factor to victory. They have had 2 close games and a lose in the last 3 weeks, the Rams have to prove they aren’t slippin.
Why is Dez Bryant still getting publicity? His signing with the Saints today got big media attention, for a player thats done nothing but decline. Add in that the Saints have a complicated offense, Dez just adds depth to the position, not a game changer. The Saints still play the Cowboys this year, that’s the only thing note worthy that comes from this.
Saints fans are looking at this like a block buster signing, but if Dez was so block buster…why did it take so long to sign? Dez is entertaining on social media, but on the field hasn’t had 1000 yards since 2014. Just so you know, that was 4 years ago. Wide receivers aren’t like wine, they don’t get better with time. I guess it was a genius business move for Dez to sign now when the NFL new stories are at their lowest, but check back with me in a few weeks and see how ole Dez is fairing. Also Bryant will bring a lot of media attention to a team that likes to stay pretty quite, how will that dynamic fit into the locker room while this teams attempts a Super Bowl run? People forget that Dez has hands of stone and a big mouth, lets see if this signing blows up in the Saints face.
32. Oakland Raiders (32)
Nick Mullens should forever be a Raiders fan, they may have just got him a starting job for the rest of the year. He looked like a super star against these guys, crazy theory but Mullens has “Gruden Guy” written all over him. Jimmy G will be back next year and Mullens might need a job…just saying.
31. New York Giants (30)
Giants had a BYE week, but the 49ers win boost them. Next week will be the battle for #31, The Giants have more weapons then the Raiders so San Fran should be in for a fight…if anyone cares.
30. San Francisco 49ers (31)
I’m giving the 49ers the bump because they won, but they beat the Raiders. Good for them but don’t ruin this high draft pick. The win was a good story, 3rd string qb puts up monster numbers, but it was more of a showcase of how bad Oakland is. They have a chance to keep this run going as they get the 1-win Giants. Nick Mullens for Pro Bowl!!
29. Arizona Cardinals (29)
‘Zona better have treated this BYE week as a vacation because they get KC next week. They also have a tough schedule the rest of the way, things aren’t getting better.
28. Buffalo Bills (28)
HOW DOES NATHAN PETERMAN STILL HAVE A JOB??? Honestly i’m done talking about this. The Bills are an absolute joke for still having him on the team. LeSean McCoy has been bad but its hard to be motivated playing for this team.
27. Cleveland Browns (27)
The Browns aren’t going to move in the rankings, no one should have thought they had a chance against KC. Greg Williams risk taking on 2pt conversations and 4th downs, just shows he’s not giving up on these guys. They aren’t expected to win, why not just go for it?
26. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (25)
Fitz-Magic wasn’t too bad and should stay starter, but man, this defense sucks. Carolina is good, but they shit kicked the Bucs. This lose had to be a new low for a once promising start.
25. New York Jets (23)
Did Sam Darnold dress as Nathan Peterman for Halloween? Really though Danold is young and shown a lot of promise at times, but in New York you don’t get much time. He needs to grind out this year, cut back on the ints and give Jets fans something to look forward too.
24. Indianapolis Colts (24)
Colts had a BYE week, but get the Jags and Titans back to back. Either they turn the season around and climb back up the division or help either of these teams do the same.
23. Denver Broncos (22)
The Bronocs have an abundance of close loses, seriously look at the scores. One has to think what could have tilted those the other way. I say quarterback, but its really a team effort. That locker room can’t be a fun place to be.
22. Dallas Cowboys (19)
Ive been saying it, maybe this prime time failure is just what everyone needed. Dak isn’t the answer at qb and it seems time for a coaching change, don’t expect the Cowboys to figure anything out. They very likely could spoil a fellow division rival of their foes.
21. Jacksonville Jaguars (21)
Jags have a BYE week, it was just in time to stop the bleeding, here’s to see if it helped.
20. Atlanta Falcons (26)
I bumped the Falcons because they’ve won 3 straight, but its 2 wins against bad teams and 1 against a decent Skins team. They have to win the next 2 weeks (Browns, Cowboys) because then they get New Orleans. If this win streak is real were going to find out soon enough, but as of right now, id still take the Browns next week.
19. Tennessee Titans (20)
The Titans were very impressive in handling the Cowboys. There isn’t going to be much time for celebration, however. The Titans fly home to prepare to take on the surging Patriots in Nashville, followed by an AFC South road trip to Indy and then Houston. The Titans have to come out of that three-game stretch at 6-5.
18. Miami Dolphins (18)
Best way to describe this game…they didn’t lose. They have a winning record, but after this game can you really think they have any shot at the playoffs? I have a weird feeling they may be eyeing a QB in the upcoming draft.
17. Detroit Lions (17)
The Detroit Lions raised some eyebrows earlier this week when they traded wide receiver Golden Tate to the Philadelphia Eagles. Sure, the Lions were 3-4, but they were hardly out of it in the NFC North. Perhaps the Lions knew something we didn’t. Or were at least able to admit something fans have trouble with. There was a point where I was
16. Seattle Seahawks (16)
It was a disappointing loss, but Seattle has precious little time to fret about it. The Seahawks’ next three games are brutal—at the Rams, home against the Packers and then at Carolina. It’s a stretch that could be the end of any postseason aspirations Seattle may have, but lets not count the Seahawks out just yet.
15. Green Bay Packers (12)
In a loaded NFC North it looks like the Packers are just about finished. They have a tough schedule and mounting injuries. Not even ARog can save them from this.
14. Baltimore Ravens (14)
Sunday’s home loss to the hated Steelers was Baltimore fourth loss in five games. And the reason for that loss was the same problem that has plagued these Ravens over the past few seasons. The offense isn’t good. It seems like only a matter of time before Lamar Jackson gets his chance.
13. Cincinnati Bengals (13)
The Bengals had a BYE week, now they get the Saints. Hope they used that week well.
12. Philadelphia Eagles (15)
The Eagles had a bye week, but they jump 3 spots…well because the Redskins got destroyed by the Falcons, that puts Philly right back in places to win the division. They benefited greatly from the lose. Philly has an insane line up of games to finish the season so this is really gut check time for the defending champs.
11. Washington Redskins (6)
I kept saying this team didn’t look top 10, and they got destroyed by a rough Atlanta team. A lot of things were exposed here and the Eagles are nipping at their heels. The problem is when they lose…they lose big, they also have some impressive wins. This team is tough to figure out and with injuries stacking up, this could be a rough stretch.
10. Minnesota Vikings (11)
The Vikings are still behind the Bears in the North, so they need all the wins they can get to keep up. This teams tough to figure out, they got blown out by the Bills, so no game should be a guaranteed win.
9. Houston Texans (10)
This team is on fire, but lets be honest, their wins haven’t came against great teams. The rest of their schedule sets up favorably if they keep at this pace. The Texans 1000% control their own destiny.
8. Chicago Bears (9)
The Bears did exactly what they should have, put the Bills out of their misery. Chicago has a chance to seize control of the NFC North with upcoming games against the Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings.
7. Pittsburgh Steelers (8)
The Steelers avenged an earlier season lose to the Ravens and seem to be right where they want to be. Next weeks game against the Panthers is huge for both teams momentum moving forward.
6. Carolina Panthers (7)
Don’t look now but the Panthers are feeling themselves. Cam Newton is a weapon, but hes also surrounded by weapons and that’s scary. Carolina blew out Tampa and have an impressive 3 game win streak going. Big Ben and company will be a huge test next week.
5. San Diego Chargers (6)
We’ve seen this before from San Diego, they look like a lock for a wild card, but they have collapsed before and still have to play KC again. Also games against the AFC North’s top teams, this won’t be an easy journey, but Rivers always keeps it exciting.
4. LA Rams (1)
How did the Rams fall 3 spots? They got destroyed, none of the other teams ahead of them can say that. New England got beat early in the season by Detroit and it didn’t look great, but in no way did they get dominated. A bright spot of this team was supposed to be their defense and that said defense looks mediocre at best. Is the offense good enough to hang with the elite? Time will tell, and after the Rams were humbled, an they learn from it. Honestly this team could be scary if they use it as motivation.
3. New England Patriots (3)
New England looked great against Green Bay, but this match up was over hyped. This is exactly the result they should have had. The Pats have an easy schedule going ahead besides from Minnesota and Pitt, so we shouldn’t see them take their foot off the pedal anytime soon.
2. New Orleans Saints (4)
The top 4 of the NFL looks scary right now. Yes, someone can swoop in and ruin this, but right now the offensive juggernauts are must watch football. The Saints have a few tough match ups left on the schedule, they have to look past this win and keep pumping. The season very well could come down to the 2 late season games against Carolina.
1. KC Chiefs (1)
The Chiefs picked apart the Browns, this was supposed to happen and did. The announcers during this game in now way sold the win like they should, instead pumped how promising of a future the Browns have. The Chiefs have to be getting sick of this, that’s a great chip to have on your shoulder. They honestly get the bump to number 1 because LA deserved to fall and Nola hasn’t done enough to show they’re that much better than the boys in KC. Next week is Arizona, they should use this as an opportunity to develop the defense on their road to meeting the Rams.
John Gruden seems to be all out on Derek Carr, so lets look at this like he’s going to move on next year to a new QB. Who’s the next Gruden guy? Will Gruden bring in Brad Johnson to be his QB coach? You know damn well if he replaces Carr, his next quarterback will be outlandish…so here we go.
Come on! You know Fitz-Magic is a logical choice, he’s a pro-typical Gruden qb. Id also love to see Fitz and John smashing wings at Hooters, going over game plans. If this happens, the Raiders have to be next season of Hard Knocks. If Gruden really is done with Carr, this actually wouldn’t be a bad choice for Oakland until they draft someone.
Just keep giving this guy a job, its hilarious. Signing Brock to a big deal then him playing just like he did in Houston would keep Oakland as the laughing stock of the league, but someones going to keep this guy around, why not Gruden.
Trade Carr for Bortles…straight up. Carr may win a Super Bowl in Jacksonville and Bortles will still be Bortles, but Gruden traded the best defensive player in the league, so this isn’t outlandish. In no way will this be an improvement for Oakland, but its something stupid that they would do.
Yea I said it. Peterman sucks, but Gruden will think he can fix him. I’m not even kidding, he seriously would think that, he probably currently does think that. Peterman likely won’t get better under Gruden, but he would help the Raiders stock up on top draft picks, by landing them in last place.
Ok most of these have been a joke, but I’ll give you 2 picks I think would actually work. I was also kind of serious about Fitzpatrick being a good fill in until they draft someone.
Bridgewater should have never been pushed out of Minnesota like he was, he was a promising quarterback until his injury. The Saints traded for him and he would be a great predecessor to Drew Brees, but this is a guy that could really help Oakland. The team has a lot to rebuild but a fresh start with Teddy could be just what Gruden needs.
This is another guy who could be a solid holding ground until Gruden drafts who he wants. Tyrod has been solid everywhere he’s been and never seemed to voice his opinion, even when in rough situations. Raiders fans would also love Tyrod he’s a gamer and has more flair than Carr. Either way a solid season for Tyrod before be gets booted for another 1st round quarterback isn’t the worst the he could do. He also fits Grudens mold of a cheap veteran qb, who doesn’t make a lot of mistakes.
The season is just starting, and struggling players can also write their wrongs. For now lets see who hasn’t lived up to expectations.
10. Jake Allen – St. Louis Blues
Allen isn’t the only issue in STL, actually he may not even be top 3. The problem is that he’s the player expected to do the best. He has so much upside and has no help right now, but also isn’t making the necessary saves. This can be easily adjusted and it will adjust with the Blues success. All these things depend on the other, its a viscous cycle.
9. Tuukka Rask- Boston Bruins
The Bruins goalie has a .902 save percentage and a 3-3-0 record (vs. 4-0-2 for backup Jaroslav Halak). Rask is #9 because its not the firs time this has happened and then he rebounded.
8. Max Pacioretty- Vegas Knights
He has dealt with an injury to himself and an injury that took away his center, Paul Stastny, after just three games together. But two goals for Pacioretty in 10 games with the Knights is the same start he had last season for Montreal, and last season was awful.
7. Erik Karlsson- San Jose Sharks
This isn’t a panic situation, but Karlsson has been average and that’s not a good thing. A lot of publicity has been put into this trade. Except this not to last, but man…if it did, that would be the story of the NHL.
6. Carolina Goalies
You honestly just can’t pick one, its a mess, and Carolina totally flipped their goaltending up side down in the off season. Petr Mrazek (.887), Curtis McElhinney(.892) and Scott Darling (.903 in his first game back from injury) have produced an .884 team save percentage. Carolina is the surprise team so far this year, but need to get it together between the pipes.
5. James Neal- Calgary Flames
One of the most high-profile free-agent signings of the off season, Neal has two goals and one assist in 13 games. This rough start can be attributed greatly to usage, Neal for some reason isn’t getting top line shifts. Rather surprising move by Bill Peters.
4. Milan Lucic- Edmonton Oilers
Milan Lucic has one goal in his last 27 games and one even-strength goal in his last 60. That seems bad. To say he’s underachieving is an under statement.
3. Justin Abdelkader- Detroit Red Wings
The Wings aren’t great, so they need all they can get. Justin was supposed to be a bright spot, they locked the dude up til 2023. The 31-year-old forward has one goal and one assist in 12 games. The reason he’s #3 is because the length of his contract, he has a lot to live up to in a rebuilding time for Detroit.
2. Brian Elliot- Philadelphia Flyers
Honestly you have to had seen this coming, his numbers with the Blues were a scam. The Flyers got fooled big time. Moose has a .911 save percentage at even strength, but he’s at .889 overall with a 3-5-0 record, and the Flyers are last in the NHL in team save percentage.
1. Sergi Bobrovsky – Columbus Blue Jackets
2-5-0, with an .882 save percentage and a 3.58 goals-against average. Seriously those are his numbers, there’s also talk of him getting traded. This is the most unexpected start to a season, we’ve seen in a long time. Bob was a legit super star and is beyond struggling at this point.
Yea a team that picked up another piece in a Super Bowl run is the loser. Dumping everything in one season could be devastating, what if the Rams don’t win the Super Bowl next year? They have maybe a 3 year span and after that they won’t be able to pay everyone and won’t have the draft picks to replace either. The Rams are losers until we find out that this works somehow, but with salary restrictions, its just about impossible. You build your team with the draft, that’s a proven fact, this all in method seems like an accident waiting to happen.
Dude…do something. The Chiefs are among the NFLs elite, but the Patriots proved they can be out gunned with a weak defense. This isn’t a good sign for the playoffs, that’t not saying the Chiefs can’t out score teams through the playoffs, but picking up some secondary help would have gave the defense a renewed confidence. The D-line hasn’t been the issue, it’s how bad the secondary gets burnt. Sound be real interesting to see how teams continue to attack the Chiefs, especially the Monday night Rams game.
Green Bay Packers
SOOOO, are you just packing it in? Trading Ha Ha was a confusing one for a contender then trading Montgomery because he made a bad play, it’s just not a good look. Maybe this will bring this team together, but we will have to see.
The Lions traded Golden Tate. The trade is somewhat curious for the Lions, who seemed to be gearing up for a playoff run after acquiring run-stopper Damon Harrison from the New York Giants for a fifth-round pick. Mike Tanier of Bleacher Report was likewise puzzled when he tweeted: “So, are the #Lions rebuilding or contending? They’re Conbuilding!” Does anyone know what the Lions are doing?
They lost Fuller and added another elite NFL receiver, they are hot right now, so adding this piece makes the Texans terrifying for anyone in the league. Hopkins and Thomas instantly become one of the leagues best duos.
A five-year starter and 2014 first-round pick for Green Bay, Clinton-Dix registered 27 tackles and three interceptions in seven games this year. The 2016 Pro Bowler should immediately help an already stout Washington defense that has allowed the fifth-fewest points in the NFL. The ‘Skins are in a tough division, they needed something to give them an extra push. This was a surprising move, but after it happened made a lot of sense.
The Ravens offense ranks a dismal 27th in the NFL in yards per play (5.2) this season. Baltimore needed to make a move after losing its last two games, as it sits outside the playoff picture at 4-4. Adding another offensive weapon for only a seventh-round pick seems prudent. Montgomery is solid, so it only makes sense a team would inquire about him with the Green Bay drama.Plus we’ve seem these revenge stories before, this dude may be about to go off. Don’t be shocked to see Montgomery be the second half’s biggest break out player.
On paper the Eagles have a good receiver/Tight end core, but they currently rank 20th in the NFL and are .500. A spark plug needed to be added and that exactly what Golden Tate brings. Tate is a yards after carry monster, so teams have to stick to him, that opens up the other big receivers that the Eagles have. This is similar to the Chiefs signing Sammy Watkins and that worked out fine for them.
32. Oakland Raiders (32)
The Raiders are helpless and the only way Gruden is keeping his job is if he has a master plan to stock up draft pick and be loaded for the move to Vegas. If they’re smart enough this could be genius.
31. San Francisco 49ers (30)
This team is dead in the water, losing Jimmy G destroyed all hope. At this point, keep losing, and don’t mess up that high draft pick.
30. NY Giants (29)
Wow, these guys are bad. Like most bad teams, the issues are everywhere. Lets just hope these guys stay as far away from yachts as possible. Its been a disaster since that infamous picture, if I were Eli, I’d ask for a trade or retire…now.
29. Arizona Cardinals (31)
They won against another bottom feeder, cool. All I can say is that Arizona better cherish this coming bye week…because they get a red hot KC team. Good luck guys
28. Buffalo Bills (28)
OH NO…WE MAY HAVE A PETERMAN SITUATION. Derek Anderson was hurt in the Bills Monday lose and you know what that means…start whatever defense plays Buffalo next week. Its such a shame this offense sucks, cause the defense played New England better than anyone has all year. BTW its the Bears next Sunday, a little fantasy football advice.
27. Cleveland Browns (25)
Fire everyone! Well almost, Haley and Hue are gone, but are we shocked? Hue never had control of that team and they are too talented to only have 2 wins. A better coach and this team could have at least 5 wins.
26. Atlanta Falcons (26) BYE
Injuries have crushed this team, more than any other team, this simply isn’t where anyone saw the Falcons at the half way point.
25. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (24)
Fitz-Magic is back and he almost pulled out the comeback. Fitz being named starter next week isn’t good for Tampa, they may be quarterback shopping in the draft. Doesn’t seem like all is right in the Bay.
24. Indianapolis Colts (27)
They beat the worst team in the league, they only moved up like they did because other teams took some tough loses. Also they surprisingly are still in the division hunt, even though Houston is on fire.
23. NY Jets (23)
These past weeks reminded us who the Jets really are. The cold, hard truth is that when the Jets blew out Detroit in Week 1 and went .500 over the first six weeks, they created a false impression that they were further along in the rebuilding process than they actually are.
22. Denver Broncos (22)
Well the KC lose had to be a reality check, this team was thinking they very much had playoff hopes. Not while Keenum is quarterback, the Broncos have had real issues getting a reliable QB back there. They can’t draft one and can’t sign one, the upper management needs a look in the mirror.
21. Jacksonville Jaguars (21)
This team got way to in to their own heads, you don’t get a big head until you actually win the big one, we’ve seen this time and time again. Bortles isn’t the only issue, there’s something in the locker room that stinks.
20. Tennessee Titans (20) BYE
The Titans had a bye week, but need a win next week before the sink officially sinks. The Texans are on fire and pulling away.
19. Dallas Cowboys (19) BYE
A bye week for Amari Cooper, but can he save this season? The Cowboys have shown signs of brilliance but also laid some duds. Another missed playoffs might mean a house cleaning in the Big D.
18. Miami Dolphins (11)
It’s hard to believe at one point this year the Dolphins were the leagues surprise team and in the top 10, its hard to believe because they kinda suck now. Really, they do, I’m not being mean, just honest.
17. Detroit Lions (16)
With divisional matchups coming up with the Bears and Vikings, this was an important gam, a chance to get above .500 before the stretch that will define Detroit’s season. This lose could very much come back to haunt the Lions.
16. Seattle Seahawks (18)
The Seahawks are shooting for a wildcard and that’s going to be very tough, with the Panther and entire NFC North, hell the Eagles are in that mix too. The playoffs are far away, but every game counts for Seattle.
15. Philadelphia Eagles (17)
I’m very surprised the Eagles haven’t picked up a RB at the deadline yet, but there’s still about an hour. They needed this more than maybe any team needed a win this week. The NFC is crowded right now, every win matters, that’s a simply football fact for ya.
14. Baltimore Ravens (12)
The Ravens didn’t just lose. They got shit pumped by Carolina. Baltimore was outplayed in just about every area on both sides of the ball. The Ravens were also sloppy, committing nine penalties and three turnovers. Now that’s back to back loses, time to figure it out and quick.
13. Cincinnati Bengals (13)
The Bengals won, so they won’t drop, but they for sure not moving up. This team couldn’t hold a league against Pittsburgh and then got legitimately murdered by KC, so you go out and prove your worth against Tampa…right? No the Bengals almost blew a lead to Fitz-Magic, that’s not good, you have to hold on to these leads. Hopefully for their sake they take advantage of the BYE.
12. Green Bay Packers (8)
You’d have to think if Ty Montgomery wouldn’t have ran that ball that kick off out of the end-zone, the Packers would have won that game. But the NFL doesn’t play what-ifs, the Packers lost and slip to .500. The NFC North is so tight, the Pack can’t let these get away.
11. Minnesota Vikings (6)
2 turnovers that both led to touchdowns, end of analysis. You can’t win games that way.
10. Houston Texans (15)
Welcome to the top 10, this team is the definition of not panicking. They unfortunately lost WR Will Fuller to a torn ACL but acquired Demaryius Thomas today. This has to boost moral in the locker room and moral already has to be pretty high. Thomas also faces his former team this week, what a statement he can make.
9. Chicago Bears (10)
The Bears may get Nathan Peterman next week, start licking your chops now. We know the Bears can play defense. And Mitchell Trubisky has shown flashes under center. Give the youngster this kind of a run game to lean on, and these Bears are going to be hard to beat. The Bear led in every offensive category Sunday, that’s a huge positive.
8. Pittsburgh Steelers (9)
This team flat out doesn’t need Bell, I genuinely think he comes back, it will hurt more than help. Just as he did back in Week 1, young tailback James Conner ran all over the Cleveland Browns in Week 8—146 rushing yards, 66 more yards on five catches and a pair of touchdowns. The Steelers are a serious contender, it just took them a few weeks to realize that.
7. Carolina Panthers (14)
The Panthers took the biggest leap in the rankings, they destroyed the Ravens. Their 2 late season match ups with the Saints are going to be electric if they keep up this pace. Carolina had their way Sunday with one of the NFL’s stingiest defenses, racking up 386 total yards and piling up 36 points. Cam Newton had himself a day, passing for two touchdowns and running for another. Tailback Christian McCaffrey got in on the multiple-score act too—rushing for one touchdown and catching another.
6. Washington Redskins (7)
The Redskins continue to win, and they win when Peterson’s hot. He burned the Giants, but who hasn’t. If they’re going to make the playoffs then they have to win these games, simple as that.
5. LA Chargers (5) BYE
Chargers had a bye week and rattle off 3 straight weeks of easy wins, just can’t slip up. They are easily the leagues best team…that no one is talking about.
4. New Orleans Saints (4)
Kirk Cousins out gunned Drew Brees, but ask Brees if he cares, they won the game. One thing Brees didn’t do was throw a pick 6 and the one Cousins threw could have cost his team the game. The Saints are clicking very well right now, this team is scary and the NFC better take notice, if they haven’t already.
3. New England Patriots (3)
The final score doesn’t show how much the Pats struggled, it took them into late into the game, before they pulled away. The Bills defense gave the rest of the league hope, but the Patriots won the game, just like they always seem to do.
2. KC Chiefs (2)
The Chiefs win this week was solid, that’s about it. They scored enough early and the defense converted enough turnovers to keep Denver from gaining momentum, this wasn’t a blow out or a nail biter. This was simply a game the should have won and they accomplished that. With all the turmoil in Cleveland, next week should be interesting.
1. LA Rams (1)
The Rams are the NFL’s best team, but hasn’t come easy, half their games have been within one score. The NFL would prefer that the Chiefs and Rams don’t lose again til their Monday night match up, but the NFL doesn’t always work that way. The Rams have the Saints and Seahawks before that.
The Cleveland Browns have fired head coach Hue Jackson and offensive coordinator Todd Haley after reaching the halfway point of the season with a 2-5-1 record.
Cleveland announced the moves Monday, noting defensive coordinator Gregg Williams will take over as the interim head coach, while running backs coach and associate head coach Freddie Kitchens will step in as the offensive coordinator.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter first reported Jackson’s exit, while NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Haley’s departure.
Browns owners Dee and Jimmy Haslam said in a statement:
“We greatly appreciate Hue’s commitment to the Cleveland Browns organization over the last two-and-a-half years. We understand how critical this time period is in the development of our football team, individually and collectively, and believed it was in the organization’s best interest to make the move at this time, in order to maximize our opportunities the rest of this season. We certainly only wish Hue, Michelle and his family the best moving forward.”
Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports reported that Jimmy Haslam “was conflicted” over firing Jackson and that “late last night he was leaning toward staying course.”
However, Robinson noted Haslam spoke to general manager John Dorsey, who said that the dynamic between Jackson and Haley “couldn’t continue.”
Fitzpatrick almost led the Tampa Bay Buccaneers back from a 34-16 deficit against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday. As a result, he’ll be the team’s starting quarterback heading into a Week 9 matchup with the Carolina Panthers.
On Monday, Buccaneers head coach Dirk Koetter named Fitzpatrick the starter after Jameis Winston threw four interceptions during the loss to the Bengals.
Fitzpatrick entered Sunday’s game after Jessie Bates returned Winston’s fourth interception for a touchdown. He directed three scoring drives in the fourth quarter to tie the score at 34 before Randy Bullock drilled a winning field goal to drop Tampa Bay to 3-4.
He also started the first four contests in the wake of Winston’s season-opening three-game suspension. The veteran impressed and threw for more than 400 yards in each of the first three games with 11 touchdown passes to four interceptions.
Fitzpatrick became the first player in league history to throw for more than 400 yards in three straight games, but a Week 4 meltdown against the Chicago Bears caused Tampa Bay to turn back to Winston.
Fitzpatrick will now have the opportunity to prove himself in a divisional contest against the 5-2 Panthers.
Carolina is a middling 17th in the league in passing yards allowed per game, so Fitzpatrick will have the chance to add to his already impressive showings before he hits the open market as a free agent this coming off-season.
Let me say it a little louder for the haters in the back…SIDNEY CROSBY IS THE BEST PLAYER IN THE LEAGUE. Stop this McDavid non sense, Crosby deserves more respect than that. McDavid is great and will be great, but Crosby has 3 cups and is still playing at an elite level. People spend their lives waiting for Crosby to “lose” it, some of these dummies are going to die before they see the day. It looks like Sid will win another cup, before McDavid wins his first. At this point it seems as though that’s his only goal, the individual rewards mean nothing after you’ve tasted that high of the Stanley Cup as many times as Sid. His goal to beat McDavid and crew the other night, sealed the debate, for at least this season on who’s the best. He comes up big when its needed the most and he does it with an insane sense of style. All these writers who make their money bashing Crosby better clean up that resume.
